Updated for 2024:
The following apply to riders who want to do both of the North Island 800/1600km rides:
- This is fondly known as ‘doing the Double Badger’. – Meaning you’ll get two badges for completing both of the rides.
- If you’re doing the Double Badger, you must do the one of the two rides on the weekend of the event.
- This commonly means that you’ll have to do the ‘other’ ride at a later date, and depending on where you live, you may need to return to Ohakune in order to do that ride.
- We are not making any location allowances for either route in terms of mandatory waypoints (photo checkpoints) – you may end up needing to travel ‘onto the route from wherever you live’, that’s all part of it, so you’ll need to plan accordingly.
- Remember that you won’t know the route until the reveal and it might not be pass directly past your door. – The Double badger will require extended effort!
- No refunds of your Double Badger extra costs after entries close, as we will have commissioned your badge / patch etc.
- We call rides done after the formal event a ‘virtual ride’ because it will require you to prove to us that you did it, in accordance with the rules set out for the ride.
- We have a detailed page which outlines what is required and how to conduct a virtual ride: https://www.distanceriders.org.nz/proof-for-virtual-event.html
- Rides conducted as virtual rides still need to complete the entire route, in the order and direction intended.
- Read the linked page for full details. https://www.distanceriders.org.nz/proof-for-virtual-event.html
Any issues with these rules, then please talk to us before you put your entry in. We can be reached by email at Distance Riders <distanceriders@gmail.com>
Thank you.
